How to get rid of the smell in my bathroom

You’ve cleaned and cleaned and bought every kind of deodorizer in the world, but your bathroom still smells bad. It could be sewer gas escaping into your bathroom. Not only does it have a foul smell, over time it could make your family sick.

Where is it coming from? The toilets, sinks and showers in your bathroom are interconnected with vents and traps at each drain. This plumbing system is designed to carry wastewater away from your home and provide a barrier to keep those sewer gases from leaking back into your home. If you’re continuing to smell them inside your home, there is a definite issue in your plumbing system. If you have any bathrooms that are not used at least on a weekly basis, be sure to run water in the sink and tub/shower weekly to keep water in the trap to prevent sewer gases from coming up.
