Notice spots on glasses and silverware? Suffer from dry skin? Can’t seem to achieve soft, beautiful hair? You could be suffering from a case of “hard water”. A large number of homeowners in the Charlotte area experience these problems, but you don’t have to deal with them any longer. Find out what hard water is and how you can get rid of it below:
You may have heard the terms “hard water” or “soft water” before, but chances are you don’t really have a good understanding of what they actually mean. We’re here to clear up the confusion and explain the differences in simple terms.
Hard water is water that contains microscopic inorganic compounds like calcium or magnesium or even chalk. They are picked up and deposited in the water as it runs through rocks and soil and then it can enter your home. Soft water, on the other hand, refers to water that does not contain high levels of the previously mentioned compounds. It can also refer to water where the pH balance is more in line with the normal range.
Why is hard water bad for your home? It could be the culprit of any or all of the following:
Spotting on glasses and silverware
Soap scum on the shower doors
Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dry skin
Dry, dull skin and hair
Scale buildup in pipes, water heater, dishwashers and washing machines
