Don’t get caught off guard, get HomeGuard! According to the Los Angeles Times, in 2003 California alone averaged 9.3 water damage claims per hour, 24 hours per day at an average loss of $5,256 per claim. Losses totaled $428.5 million in 2003. Our town is NO DIFFERENT!

Every homeowner has a risk of water damage according to a national survey of 1,700 people. The survey conducted by Impulse Research found that 32% of respondents had experienced some form of water damage. The Personal Insurance Federation of California (PIFC) estimates that an average repair cost for drain stoppages is $3300, not including any mold remediation that may be required. Other key findings of Impulse Research were that many respondents indicated they do not take basic steps to prevent water damage.

  • 31% never inspect their washing machine hoses
  • 36% never inspect their toilets
  • 61% never inspect their water heaters
  • 41% do not shut off the water heater when they go on vacation

In a survey of over one hundred national insurance companies, most of them will not cover secondary damages resulting from leaks and drain back-ups. A sampling of 63% of the home insurers found that water-related losses had totaled $1.7 billion between 1997 and 2005. The average cost of a water claim has nearly doubled in the last four years.

Water is the single most common cause of household damage according to a nationwide analysis by Safeco Insurance. The biggest culprits are water heaters and washing machines. Households with water damage spend an average of $5,000 for each incident.

Introducing the HomeGuard Early Warning System. The only “guard” your plumbing needs, providing you with “Peace of Mind!”

In the event HomeGuard detects a leak or drain stoppage, HomeGuard will call Three-Way Plumbing for you. The HomeGuard is a leak and drain back-up detection system. It incorporates a series of liquid sensors, a drain back-up sensor and control unit. The sensor units monitor possible leak areas of the home, and the main drain is monitored by the Drain Guard. Should a leak or back-up occur, the sensor will activate and send a wireless signal to the control unit. The control unit will sound an audible voice alert to notify you in the home and will also call Three-Way Plumbing.

The actual message that you, the homeowner, will hear is: “Alert, alert, HomeGuard Early Warning System has detected a leak or drain backup. Secondary damage or health damage may occur. For your protection and immediate assistance, HomeGuard will now auto dial Three-Way Plumbing at (704)535-4795.”  The unit will repeat this message until it is deactivated.
