Tank Water Heater Repair & Installation in Greater Charlotte
Traditional tank water heaters are the water heaters that are familiar to most of us. They take the cold water supply coming into your home and store it in a large tank. Then this water is heated by electricity, natural gas, propane, heat pumps, or even solar power. When the water in the tank cools off, the fuel kicks in and heats it up again. Then when you turn on your shower, faucet, dishwasher, or washing machine -- hot water is ready for you to use.
Repair or Replace My Tank Water Heater?
If your water heater is not providing enough hot water, has discolored or smelly water or is making noises, take a look at our water heater repair page for more information on some typical problems and causes.
Although many water heater issues can be repaired, water heaters do eventually wear out and can no longer be safely repaired. Since the average life of a water heater is 8-12 years and the most common failure of old water heaters is a leaking or burst tank that can cause major water damage to your home… if your water heater is near that age range it may make more sense to upgrade to a new higher efficiency model that will also perform better and save you money on utility bills.
Take this test. If you are experiencing any of the following problems, you should have your water heater inspected by a trained professional.
- No hot water
- Slow hot water recovery after someone showers or uses a lot of hot water
- Pilot light keeps going out on natural gas water heater
- Lukewarm water
- Popping or banging noise from inside the water heater
- Smelly water when you turn on hot water at the tap or in the shower or bath
- Leaking tank
- If your water heater is 6 or more years of age

Regular Water Heater Maintenance Can Extend The Life Of Your Water Heater
Manufacturer's recommend a yearly flushing of your water heater to ensure long life and proper performance. Without it, scale and sediment can build up and cause the water heater to underperform, or fail. So all the water used in your laundry, dishwasher, bath or shower, is first filtered through this scale and sediment before coming to you. Caution: If your tank water heater is 5 years or older and has not been flushed within the last year, do not flush it now as that may cause leaks.
